Dear Friends, Cautiously, I want to say that summer has arrived. I suspect it will be a little different this summer because of the price of gas. Some of those who planned to visit with us might not be able to implement their plans. I do hope that, even if they cannot join us in paradise, they are able to find some peace and relaxation this summer. And I hope the same is true for you. For me, it is time to propose some plans to you and to ask for some imaginative folk who can help put these plans together. One of these plans has to do with the former play ground for the day care. I would like to transform it into a “Pray Ground” where children and their parents can come to play, but also to pray. My hope is that we can post prayers by the different equipment for the children to learn to pray while they play. Hopefully, the parents would pray with them and help them as they push them on the swings, etc. If you would like to help plan this, please give me a call. Another of these plans is to resurrect the Faith Formation Commission which would help give direction and oversight to all our formation/education programs/events. Please think well beyond religious education for our children. The ministry of this commission will be exciting and challenging in the light of the new space we will have when our buildings are complete. If you feel called to help with this, give me a call. Over the summer there will be other opportunities, also. I would like to resurrect the “Fun Committee”. Also, I would like to develop a Pastoral Commission to focus on pastoral needs of our community. These are just a few. And, remember, the old adage rings true – “Many hands make light work”. Please give the “Pray Ground” and Faith Formation Commission some prayerful thought and call me if you would like to be a part of these exciting and developing ministries. Enjoy the summer.
