Sign of the cross
In the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily
bread;
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass
against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.
Hail
Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the
Lord is with you!
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray
for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father
almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power
of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was
buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the
Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life
everlasting. Amen.
Gloria Patri (Doxology)
Glory to the Father, and to
the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Prayer of Sorrow (Act of
Contrition)
My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned
against you, whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
or
Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
or
Lord God,
in your goodness have mercy on me:
do not look on my sins, but take away all my guilt.
Create in me a clean heart and renew within me an upright spirit.
or
Lord Jesus,
You chose to be called the friend of sinners.
By your saving death and resurrection free me from my sins.
May your peace take root in my heart
and bring forth a harvest of love, holiness and truth.
or
Lord Jesus,
You opened the eyes of the blind, healed the sick,
forgave the sinful woman, and after Peter’s denial confirmed him in
your love.
Listen to my
prayer:
Forgive all my sins, renew your love in my heart,
help me live in perfect unity with my fellow Christians
that I may proclaim your saving power to all the world.
(Rite of
Penance)
An Act
of Faith
O my God,
I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; I believe that your divine Son became
human and died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the
living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the
holy Catholic Church teaches, because you revealed them, who can
neither deceive nor be deceived.
An Act of Hope
O my God,
relying on your infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain the
pardon of my sins, the help of your grace, and life everlasting,
through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
An Act of Love
O my God, I
love you above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because you
are all-good and worthy of all my love. I love my neighbor as myself
for the love of you. I forgive all who have injured me, and I ask
pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen.
Grace before Meals
Bless us, O Lord, and these
your gifts
which we are about to receive from your bounty.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Grace after Meals
We give you thanks for all
your gifts, almighty God,
living and reigning now and forever. Amen.
The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus
Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
Prayer upon Waking
(Trace a small cross across the lips
then say)
Lord, open my lips, and my
mouth shall proclaim your praise.
Saint Patrick's Breastplate
I arise today through God's
strength to pilot me,
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's hosts to save me from the snares of the devil.
Prayer at Bedside
May the all-powerful Lord
grant us a restful night and a peaceful death.
Protect us, Lord, as we stay awake; watch over us as we sleep,
that awake, we may keep watch with Christ, and asleep, rest in his
peace.
Hail Mary, full of grace…
The Canticle of Simeon
or Nunc Dimittis (Luke 2:29-32)
Lord, now you let your servant
go in peace;
Your word has been fulfilled:
My own eyes have seen the
salvation
Which you have prepared in the sight of every people:
A light to reveal you to the
nations
And the glory of your people Israel.
Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of
your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I
may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console:
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we
receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
Come, Holy Spirit
Come, Holy
Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire
of your love.
Leader:
Send forth your
Spirit and they shall be created.
Response:
And You shall renew the face of
the earth.
Let us pray.
O God, who by
the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of your
faithful, grant that by that same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise,
and ever rejoice in your consolation. We ask this through Christ our
Lord. Amen.

The Rosary
The rosary is
a devotional prayer honoring Mary, the mother of Jesus. In praying
the rosary, certain special events in the lives of Jesus and Mary
are called to mind for meditation and prayerful reflection. These
meditations are "the mysteries of the rosary" (joyful, sorrowful,
glorious). Each prayer and mystery of the rosary are rooted in
Scripture and provide an opportunity for deepening Biblical
knowledge and devotion.
